Hi Margaret,

Just arrived home a couple of days ago.  Thank you for arranging a safari which took into account our needs, desires and budget.
David is a very knowledgeable guide and hard worker.  His knowledge of the birds is much greater than previous safari guides I have had before.  David’s respect for our photographic needs is top notch. Always attempting to get us the best lighting and consistently turning off the engine without our request.  I can recommend David to any serious photographer.
The highlight of our week was Samburu were we saw 4 of the big five and a vast variety of other game.  A highlight was being the first group to spot a leopard with a new kill.  In the morning we were always one of the first vehicles out, maximizing our time with the golden light.
Masai Mara is a bit disappointing this time.  The amount of game is down significantly from my last visit over a decade ago.  And in spite of going during the high migration season and waiting by the Mara River for 5 hours, no river crossings occurred.  On the positive side that day we saw a dozen cheetahs (including six 2 month olds), 6 lions, 2 leopards, thousands of wildebeests, hundreds of zebras, over a dozen giraffes.  Plus sightings of ostriches, tawny eagles, Malabo storks, vultures and others too many to mention.   David’s skill in choosing when to stay to watch for a change in behavior and when to move on is most helpful.
As you must know, Nakuru was the most disappointing stop on our safari.  During my last visit it was a highlight.  Millions of flamingos turning the sky pink even before you saw the Lake.  This time not one flamingo.  Yes I asked to go to Nakuru, but I trusted the tour arranger to know when conditions change and to tell me so I can avoid a mistake.  Margaret you failed me in this instance.  Please be more proactive with your customers.
In spite of the wasted day in Nakuru, Eastern & Southern Safari is a very good choice for your safari.  Working with their staff you can plan a very good safari which meets your individual needs.  The vehicle will be well maintained but not he newest looking vehicle.  The guides I’ve met are all college trained and knowledgeable.  And by booking directly with ESS you will minimize your cost.

Regards,
